A Surfboard Demo Day by BOS Surfboards

With a byline ‘We’re Not Normal,’ you know you’ll be getting something other than the generic shortboard.

BOS Surfboards specialises in creating boards that stand out from the crowd, from psychedelic colours and cheeky subliminal messages, to classic long boards that will make any surfer weak at the knees. BOS creates boards for people who like to do things differently. And if you have an eccentric side, BOS will bring it out, giving you an edge in the lineup and an unquestionable flash of style.

Hosted at The Rockpool in Godrevy, the demo day saw the entire BOS Surfboards collection take centre stage with a special focus on the Log/Twin Fin/ Mid-length and General Alternative boards, enough to make any surfer drool. That, coupled with a mind-boggling selection of Shapers fins, and a whopping stash of TCSS gear saw a fair few surfers wandering round with longing in their eyes.

One of the hardest things about investing in a new board is wondering whether it'll ride right for you. The great thing about the demo day was that it provided buyers with the chance to take boards they would never usually consider for a spin, allowing surfer's to try new styles or ride a board they had their eye on but wouldn't necessarily think to buy without a test run. One of my personal favourites was a quirky finless creation that definitely got a lot of attention.

Supported by Sharp's Brewery's, after your surf you were greeted with a refreshing can of Offshore Pilsner, because everyone knows there's nothing better than post surf beers!

Morning sessions were sweet with blue skies and decent waves, but the afternoon saw the clouds roll in and the winds turn. Having the chance to talk to BOS Surfboards Founder and Shaper, Hugh Brockman, was worthwhile in itself, with a wealth of experience to tap into and an original flair, I look forward to seeing what novelty boards are created next.

Stay Weird!
